Chennai : The 98-year old Agricultural Scientist Dr M S Swaminathan, who described as the Father of Green Revolution in India passed away in Chennai on Thursday.

He leaves behind three daughters, Dr Soumya Swaminathan, a Paediatrician was holding the Second highest position in the World Health Organisation, Dr Madhura Swaminathan, an Economist was working in the Indian Statistical Institute in Bengaluru, who is an expert in the fields of Food Security, Agriculture and Rural Development, has also worked at International Rice Research Institute and Nithya Swaminathan, an Expert in the field of Gender Equity and Rural Development.
His wife Late Mina Swaminathan, who was an Educationist advocated importance of Pre-school Education, was instrumental in the development and implementation of Integrated Chief Development Scheme ( I C D S )
