ಮೈಸೂರು,ನವೆಂಬರ್,09,2020(www.justkannada.in) : ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಇಡೀ ಪ್ರಪಂಚವೇ COVID-19 ಸಾಂಕ್ರಾಮಿಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ವೈರಸ್ ಜನರ ಜೀವನ ನಾಶಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಾಂಕ್ರಾಮಿಕ ರೋಗ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರ ಪಾತ್ರ ಬಹಳ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿವಿ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಜಿ.ಹೇಮಂತ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ವಿಭಾಗ, ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ ಆಫ್ ಮೈಕ್ರೋಬಯಾಲಜಿಸ್ಟ್ಸ್ ಆಫ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಭವನದ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ “ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವವಿಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನಗಳು’’ ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವೆಬಿನಾರ್ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಾಲನೆ ನೀಡಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಕೊರೊನಾ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞರ ಪಾತ್ರ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಜೀವಿಗಳು ವಿಶ್ವದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಅಣುಬಾಂಬು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂಲೆಯನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದೆ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಸಹ ಈ ಸಣ್ಣ ಜೀವಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದರು.
ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯ ಉತ್ತಮ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯು ಉತ್ತಮ ಪರಿಹಾರದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ
ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯ ಉತ್ತಮ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯು ಉತ್ತಮ ಪರಿಹಾರದ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಬಹುದು. ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಾಣುಜೀವಿಗಳು ಎಂದರೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ರೋಗವನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ಜೀವಿಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಅನೇಕ ಉಪಯುಕ್ತ ಜೀವಿಗಳಿವೆ. ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಜೀವಿಗಳಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಜೀವವಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವು ಈ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
COVID-19 ಆರ್ಥಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ,ವೃತ್ತಿ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸವಾಲು
COVID-19 ಸಾಂಕ್ರಾಮಿಕ ರೋಗದಿಂದ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಆಹಾರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವೃತ್ತಿ ಬದುಕಿಗೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸವಾಲು ಎದುರಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಣ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ದುರ್ಬಲವಾದ ವೈರಸ್ ಇಂತಹ ಭಯಾನಕ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಉಂಟುಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಕರ ಸಂಗತಿ. ಈ ವೈರಸ್‌ಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿಯಾದ ಅನೇಕ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮಜೀವಿಗಳಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಜೀವವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಇನ್ನೂ ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ತರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಸೋಂಕಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ರೋಗನಿರೋಧಕ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ
ಅಮೇರಿಕದ ವಾಷಿಂಗ್ಟನ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ.ರಾಮ್ ಸಾವನ್ “ಆತಿಥೇಯ ತಳಿಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಿಂದ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವೈರಲ್ ಸೋಂಕಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ರೋಗನಿರೋಧಕ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ’’ ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಮಲೇಷ್ಯಾದ ಎಐಎಂಎಸ್ಟಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತ ಭಾಷಣಕಾರ ಡಾ.ಗೋಕುಲ್ ಶಂಕರ್ ಸಬೇಶನ್ ಅವರು “ಆತಿಥ್ಯ ಉದ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಹಾರ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ – ವಾಸ್ತವ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಾಹಕರ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಅಂತರವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು” ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಯುನೈಟೆಡ್ ಕಿಂಗ್‌ಡಮ್‌ನ ಕ್ರಾನ್‌ಫೀಲ್ಡ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಡಾ.ಏಂಜಲ್ ಮದೀನಾ ವಯಾ ಅವರು “ಹವಾಮಾನ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೈಕೋಟಾಕ್ಸಿನ್ಗಳು: ಆಹಾರ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆಗಾಗಿ ಪರಿಣಾಮಗಳು” ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯ ಕುರಿತು ವಿಷಯ ಮಂಡನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

Mysuru, Nov. 9, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “The role of microbiologists in prevention of COVID-19 is very important,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore.
Inaugurating an International Webinar on the topic “Current Perspectives in Microbiology,” organised by the Department of Microbiology, in association with the Association of Microbiologists of India and Vignana Bhavana, he expressed his view that COVID-19 has created a kind of awareness among everyone and virus has become a topic of discussion even for a common man.
“Developing a good amount of knowledge about the problem might lead to the invention of an appropriate solution. All viruses won’t cause diseases, there are lot of useful viruses for human beings. There are no living beings on this earth without viruses, in fact they play an important role in the environment,” he said.
“It is indeed a surprise that an invisible and a weak virus has caused such a havoc among mankind. Microbiologists are finding viruses that are even more dangerous,” he added.
While Dr. Ram Sawan, Assistant Professor, Washington University, USA, spoke on the topic “Diversified Immune Responses against the Viral Infection Derived by Host Genetics”, renowned speaker Dr. Gokul Shankar Sabeshan, AIMST University, Malaysia, spoke on the topic “Food Security in Hospitality Industry – Reducing the Gap between Facts and Consumer Expectations” and Dr. Angel Madeena Waya, Crawnfield University, UK, spoke on the topic “Climate Change and Microtoxins: Impact for Food Security”.
Dr.N. Lakshmidevi, HOD, Microbiology Department, Professors Dr. Shuba Gopal, Dr. S. Satish, Dr. M.Y. Srinivas and many others participated in the webinar.
