Mysuru, Nov. 18, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “An environment with positive and healthy competition and encouragement is required in all the Departments of the University, we should survive on our own in this era of privatisation,” opined Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice Chancellor, Mysore University.
The Department of Research in Chemistry, Mysore University had organised a programme to felicitated Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice Chancellor, Mysore University and Prof. K. Basavaiah, Retd. Professor, of Department of Research in Chemistry, who were recently identified as the world’s best 2% scientists.
In his address Prof. K.S. Rangappa expressed his view that positive competition has disappeared in recent years. “We had a healthy competition in undertaking research works, which has disappeared today. We never used to jealous on others. The Department of Research in Chemistry has become a separate division from others. Two of us have been recognised as the top 2% scientists in the world, why not in other departments?” he questioned.
He expressed his happiness for recognizing the services and achievements of Prof. K. Basavaiah of Department of Analytical Chemistry and mentioned that indeed it had increased the pride of the department. He advised to further develop the Department of Chemistry and wished all the Departments of the university would become the best.
