Mysuru, September 2, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Poems written by renowned poet Dr. Siddalingaiah are like guidance for all the problems of today’s generation. Several lines from his poems depict the need for equality in the society,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He presided over the program titled, “Horaatada Saagarakke Saavillada Nadi – Dr. Siddalingaiah,” held at the Vishwagnani auditorium, organized by the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Center.
In his address, he explained that Dr. Siddalingaiah’s poems guided the Dalit movement in the state and created a new direction in the politics of Karnataka. “He was a poet of both the mass and class sections. He was a poet who was nominated for the Legislative Council. He created a Vice-Chancellor without becoming one,” he said.
Chamarajanagara MP V. Srinivas Prasad, litterateur Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara, Dr. Manasa Siddalingaiah, Rangayana former Director Janardhan (Janni), and others were present.
