Bengaluru, September 22, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Leader of the opposition in the assembly Siddaramaiah today raised the gang rape issue that took place in Mysuru recently and lambasted the government.
“The girl had gone there with one of her friends for a walk when the incident has taken place. Mysuru is a cultural city. Moreover, it is also a major educational hub. Thousands of tourists come to Mysuru daily. The rape incident has taken place in such a place. What type of message will it send to society, and what effect will it make on the people. The public is scared after the incident, and the parents are even more so. I also visited the spot and inspected it. The congress party had formed a fact-finding committee, which visited the spot and has raised a few questions,” he informed.
He urged the State Government to consider the case as that of the Nirbhaya case in New Delhi. “Why did the police delay in registering a case in such a serious issue? The FIR is registered 14 or 15 hours after the incident took place. Why did they delay? Why was the girls’ statement not recorded?” he questioned the government.
He also alleged that the culprits were not paraded in front of the victim and her friend, and no efforts have been made to identify them.
