Speaking on the occasion, Shivrajkumar shared that it was very hurtful for him when he gave voice dubbing to the movie. “I just can’t imagine Appu’s birthday without him. It is very sad. However, we have to move on. We used to exchange gifts on our birthdays. Appu lives in the hearts of all of us. I feel sad to see his movie release without him,” he said.
In his reply to a question on naming the Film City after the late actor’s name, he said, “of course, we feel happy if it is named after Appu. But being a family member, I won’t force anyone for it. But it is the desire of his fans. We feel happy if it is named after Puneeth, according to the desire of his fans. I also would like to say that there are so many others who have contributed immensely to the growth of Sandalwood. I feel happy if it is named after them also.”
