Bengaluru, Nov. 28, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “There are a total number of six Agriculture Universities in the State. They should think about adopting atleast four villages every year and try to contribute for overall development of agriculture in those villages and make them model villages,” opined Agriculture Minister B, who is also the Agricultural Universities Pro-Chancellor B.C. Patil.
He participated in the 54th Convocation of the Agricultural University, Bengaluru and conferred awards to the graduates, postgraduates and Ph.D. students.
“There were no amendments made to the agricultural department group – appointment rules from the last 20 years. I took interest in it after I took up the responsibility and it has been amended recently. Accordingly, 15% jobs have been reserved for candidates who do graduation in Food and Agriculture related subjects,” he said.
Expressing his happiness about the increasing number of girls who are graduating he also wanted them to think about commencing new start-ups in agricultural sector. There is a need to explore this sector and the university should think about how to help the girl students in this area, he added.
Dr. Kailasavadivo, President, All India Space Research Organisation inaugurated the convocation virtually and spoke.
DR. S. Rajendraprasad, Chancellor, Agriculture University welcomed and presented the educational report. There was physical participation and virtual participation of graduates.
