Along with subject knowledge, skills are also essential: Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar

Mysuru, February 3, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “Along with subject knowledge, it will be very helpful for science students to have a good future if they also develop skills,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in the ‘Student Career Development Program,’ organized by the Chemistry Department, University of Mysore, held at the seminar hall today. In his address, he said, “Usually students in the science stream will have only knowledge of the subject. But they lack communication skills and self-confidence. The Chemistry Department has organized the ‘Career Development Program,’ noticing this lacuna among the students. The number of students opting for science was less when we were studying. But now the competition is more and opportunities are less. Hence, it will be very beneficial for the students if they develop all the required skills to become efficient in this competitive world. They can expect a secured job,” he observed.
Basavaraju, IAS, MD, Karnataka Science and Technology, Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, Dr. M.P. Sadashiva, Program Coordinator, Prof. Nagaraj Nayak, HoD, Department of Chemistry, University of Mysore, and others were present.
