Mysuru, Mar. 16, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “It is incorrect to say that women should accept challenges. Being born as a girl and living itself has become a challenge. Female foeticide is a crime. Women should be careful. They should teach gender equality at home,” opined Rohini Sindhuri, Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru.
She inaugurated the 110th International Women’s Day program organized by the University of Mysore Women Employees Forum, Women Research Centre, Women’s Grievances Redressal Forum, in association with the MYTRI, held at the Vignana Bhavana, in Manasagangotri.
“When we look at history we can see that during earlier days physical capabilities were being given more prominence. But, today knowledge is more important. Hence, women should utilize it properly. Parents’ cooperation is very much needed for the development of women. However, the scenario has changed today. Along with managing the stress of work at home, women also have to manage physical and mental stress and health,” she added.
She also advised the women to give more importance to personal health by engaging in yoga, exercises, meditation, and undergoing health checkups regularly.
Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Balekundri, Head, Child Cardiology, Sri Jayadeva Hospital, Prof. R.Shivappa, Registrar, University of Mysore were present on the occasion.
