JDS loses Dy. Mayor’s post: BJP gets it
A last-minute twist in the election for the Deputy Mayor post has proved lucky for the BJP. The BJP candidate Roopa was elected as the Deputy Mayor. At the last minute, the JDS candidate Reshma Banu’s nomination was declared invalid. The post of Deputy Mayor was reserved for BCA women. But Reshma Banu has won from a general ward. As she failed to produce the BCA certificate her nomination was declared invalid. Thus due to the mistake, JDS lost the post of Deputy Mayor.
JDS party workers created a ruckus due to this for some time at the venue, resulting in a high dram in the MCC premises.
Reshma Banu’s supporters expressed their dissatisfaction and claimed that it has been done purposefully. “They have meted out injustice to us without saying anything during scrutiny. It is cheating by the officers. We are not opposing are expressing our ire at the BJP or Congress. This is a gross mistake by the Electoral officials. We will fight legally,” said former Exhibition Authority Chairman Abdul Aziz.
