Mysuru, May 16, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “Buddha’s thoughts can provide solutions to many problems that are haunting the world today,” observed Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in a special lecture program on the topic, “Buddha’s Thoughts for the Contemporary World,” organized by the University of Mysore and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Center, in association with the ‘Samaanate-Swabhimana-Swawalambane Pratishtana (Retd.),’ on the occasion of the 2566 Buddha Purnima.
“Buddha’s thoughts will teach the way to live in this society. Buddha is like a light to the world. There are two special reasons for celebrating the Buddha Purnima this year. The first is, the Buddha Research Center is being established at the University of Mysore and the second reason is organizing this program by the Srinivas Prasad’s Foundation. Buddha’s message of peace should be spread across the world,” he observed.
“Buddha’s thoughts provide solution for our many problems. But we have distanced ourselves from his thoughts. That is why we are facing many problems. There are several countries which have adopted Buddha’s thoughts and are moving in a good way. We should be inspired from them. Buddha’s thoughts are the only way to remove the darkness in us. Ambedkar adopted Buddha’s thoughts. As a result of that today we are seeing Buddha through Ambedkar. Ambedkar’s life of writings are nothing but Buddha’s thoughts,” he said.
MP Srinivas Prasad spoke on the occasion. Dr. Kalyanasiri Bhanteji of the Vishwamaitri Buddha Vihar, Dr.S. Narendrakumar, Prof. C. Basavaraju of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center and others were present.
