Bengaluru, Mar. 31, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Pratap has lost of life due to the cab business price war and the negligence of the government. The government has fixed a sum of Rs. 24 for cabs per kilometer. While KSTDC drivers are following this, private companies are not following it and are attracting customers, causing inconvenience to the KSTDC drivers,” opined former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
It can be recalled here that a KSTDC cab driver named Pratap had attempted to commit suicide by flaming himself yesterday, at the Bengaluru International Airport. He took this extreme step due to the financial burden as he couldn’t get any customers for the last few days. He succumbed yesterday at midnight. Expressing his grief about the incident former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy in his tweet mentioned that Pratap’s death has exposed the problems of the KSTDC drivers.
“KSTDC cab drivers are following the rules. But private cabs are attracting customers by offering much lower prices. Hence, KSTDC cabs are not getting any business causing problems to the KSTDC drivers. The politics that place in the parking lot at the Airport have added to their sorrows squeezing their lives,” the tweet read.
He has also demanded that the government should immediately take measures to address the price war and warn the private companies that are not following rules and taking the lives of innocent drivers who are unable to compete.
