Bengaluru, May 18, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The rains that lashed Bengaluru city last night has created havoc in many low lying areas. As a result of heavy rains several areas were inundated in rain water. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai went on a city rounds today to inspect the damage caused by the rain.
The CM visited the rain-hit areas in Hosakerehalli and inspected. Minister R. Ashok, MLA C.T. Ravi and others accompanied him. The people of the area expressed their ire and helplessness during his visit. The Chief Minister declared a sum of Rs. 25,000 compensation to the families whose houses have been damaged in the rain, and a sum of Rs. 5 lakh for the families of the labourers who have lost their lives due to rain.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “normal lives have been hit due to the heavy rain in the city. Rain water has entered the houses in several low-lying areas causing problems to the people. We will provide a sum of Rs. 25,000 compensation to such families,” he said.
Further he said, “I will discuss with the officials concerned to find out what is the reason behind this problem. We have vowed to set right such civic problems by clearing all the storm water drains in the city within one year.”
