Corona fear: KSOU introduces face identifying biometric system

Mysuru, Apr. 23, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Keeping the health of its employees in mind, the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has introduced ‘Face-based biometrics’ for the first time.
Speaking to ‘Justkannada’ regarding this Prof. S. Vidyashankar, Vice-Chancellor, KSOU, explained that biometrics were made compulsory for the teaching staff of KOSU earlier. But it was finger-based technology. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and its danger across the world the employees were scared to use it. Hence, we stopped it and have introduced the ‘Face Identification Biometric’ system as an alternative.
“About 10 systems have been installed in various departments in the University, including the Administrative Bhavan. The objective is to educate the employees on discipline and time sense,” he added.KSOU-karnataka-open-university-biometrics-face.based-mysore-vc- based face biometrics
