Mysuru, March 15, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The Parisarasnehi team and KMPK Trust have jointly organized a bicycle jatha in Mysuru on March 20, 2022, to create awareness among the public about environmental conservation, as part of the ‘World Sparrow Day,’ celebrations.
The objective of the jatha is to create awareness among the people to keep water in vessels on the terrace or open spaces for the benefit of birds and small animals. The bicycle jatha will commence at 7.00 am in front of the Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple and conclude at the Kukkarahalli Lake.
Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, today released the information material of the bicycle jatha in the University premises.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “In summers as the climate becomes hot water scarcity will also appear everywhere. It is not only a problem for human beings, but even animals and birds also will suffer. During ancient times, the kings used to build tanks and ponds on roadsides and other public places and also used to encourage growing trees and store water in pots. But today all the tube wells and tanks have gone dry due to the greed of human beings. The groundwater level is depleting at an alarming rate. Hence, every one of us should seriously think about environmental conservation. Let us all pledge to keep water in vessels on terraces of our houses for the benefit of birds. I wish this bicycle jatha will become successful.”
Those who participate in the bicycle jatha will be given a T-shirt. Interested persons can contact 8105078070/ 9880752727 for more details.
