Bengaluru, October 1, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The State Government has issued a circular informing that if there are any cases where the PTCL land has been converted without taking prior permission of the government, the Deputy Commissioner of the respective district will be held responsible.
Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prohibition of Transfer of Certain Lands) Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 2 of 1979) or PTCL restrict the conversion of land in order to prevent SCs/STs from becoming landless. Several notifications were issued earlier also in this regard. Despite this several vested interests have continued to misuse the PTCL Act and are involved in the conversion of land without getting prior permission from the government, and efforts are being made to sell it.
Hence, the government has mentioned that the PTCL Act should be considered seriously in order to prevent the SC/ST people from becoming landless. If any such cases are found the Deputy Commissioner will be held responsible, the circular issued by Under Secretary to the Government (Revenue Department) read.
