ಮೈಸೂರು,ಮಾರ್ಚ್,9,2022(www.justkannada.in): ಈ ಭೂಮಿ ಮನೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಭೂಮಿ ಅನುಕೂಲಕರ ವಾತಾವರಣ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಮಾನವನ ದುರಾಶೆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ನಾಮ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಜಿ.ಹೇಮಂತ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಮಾನಸ ಗಂಗೋತ್ರಿಯ ಅರ್ಥ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ‘‘ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿನ ಇತ್ತೀಚಿನ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಡೆದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲಗಳನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಭೂ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನದ ಸಾಕ್ಷರತೆಯ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಿದೆ. ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಆಹಾರ, ಬಟ್ಟೆ, ಮನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾನವರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲು ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಕಿದೆ. ಭೂಮಿಯ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಆಳವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಭೂಮಿ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ಆಗದೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಬದುಕಿನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಆಗಬೇಕೆಂದರು.
ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಭೂಮಿ-ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ-ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಸವಾಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಬೇಕಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಸಮಾಜ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಭೂಮಿ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಜಾಗತಿಕ ತಾಪಮಾನ, ಬರ, ಹಿಮಪಾತ ಮುಂತಾದ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತೇ ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಸೌಹಾರ್ದಯುತ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಭೂ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಬೇಕಿದೆ.
ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೊ.ಕೆ.ಭೈರಪ್ಪ, ಪ್ರೊ.ಪಿ.ಮಾದೇಶ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇತರರು ಹಾಜರಿದ್ದರು.

Geological literacy is required for everyone: UoM VC
Mysuru, March 9, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “Earth is our house. It has gifted us a good atmosphere for our survival. Earth should not be destroyed due to human greed. Instead, it is the duty of all of us to protect the earth,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in a national seminar on the topic, “Recent Developments in Geographical Science,” organized by the Earth Science Division of Manasagangotri. “Earth has given us everything for our survival. Every student should be geology literate. Conservation of earth is most required in order to ensure that future generations will get food, clothing, shelter, etc., and meaningful survival for all human beings. We all should understand the systems of the earth. Earth should become a need in all our lives, not a place of business,” he added.
Prof. K. Byrappa, Prof. P. Madesh, and others were present.
