Mysuru, June 5, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): “The Environment Day should not be limited just to one day. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment every day,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He inaugurated the Bicycle Jatha and Fancy Dress program, organized for the Rashtrottana Vidya Kendra students, on the occasion of the Environment Day, in front of the Kuvempu statue on the Manasa Gangotri campus.
“The Rashtrottana Vidyashale is providing good guidance to the students on environment protection. Today’s environment is contaminated because of us. Hence, there is a need to create awareness among the children and prepare them to protect it. University job is not limited only to higher education. We also have to create awareness among the children about environmental conservation. The Rashtrottana has taken up the work of introducing the Gangotri campus to its students today and made the program more meaningful,” he observed.
About 300 children took part in the program. Dr. Amruthesh, President Botany, Senior Professor Dr. Shivamurthy, Dr. Nagendran, Dr. H.V. Girish, Rashtrottana Vidya Kendra, Mysuru’s Regional Director Dr. L. Savitha, and others were present.
