Mysuru, Jan. 19, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Agriculture Minister B.C. Patil today said that a farmer should be able to fix the price by himself for the crop that he has grown. Farmers’ income will definitely double if he brands the produce by himself.
He inaugurated the ‘One District One Product’ (crop) training program organized at the CFTRI auditorium in Mysuru today. In his address, he said that the Govt. of India has organized training programs with the objective of making the farmers gain knowledge in marketing as well as processing of food products, and in view of increasing the micro food processing units in the unorganized sector and its competitiveness.
“With a view of providing an advantage to the farmers and make sure that they involve in profitable agriculture, the Government has held talks with the CFTRI and decided to train the farmers, and thus training is being given in processing and marketing of various agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, horticultural crop, spices, millets, oilseeds, bakery products, etc.,” he added.
He also informed that a 35% subsidy up to a maximum of Rs.10 lakh will be given to farmers who get the training, to start a small enterprise for the selected product of the district, under PMFME scheme.
CFTRI Director Dr. Sridevi Singh, scientists Dr. Manilal, Dr. Umesh Hebbar, and others were present in the inaugural program.
