Functioning of universities in the Country has become difficult: Prof. K.S. Rangappa

Mysuru, Dec. 12, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “The government is not in a position to run the universities in the country today. It has become very difficult for all the universities to function to its full potential. Unfortunately, neither the government nor none of the politicians have any respect for the Universities. Therefore, we need to save at least Mysore University,” opined Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor, Mysore University.Long-live-Mysore-Vivi-Proud-history-heritage-Chancellor-Prof.G.Hemant Kumar
Speaking at a felicitation function held for achievers at the Rani Bahaddur auditorium in Mysuru today, he said, “in earlier days politicians had respect towards universities. But now it is absent. Mysore University has maintained 6th rank in the country for the last 25 years. Despite this, there the university lacks 75% of staff. As a result of this, those who completed M.Sc. yesterday are coming to teach M.Sc. students here from the next day, as guest lecturers. How can the reputation of this university remain in such a situation? he questioned.
“We should save at least one university in our State. Mysore University is still functioning because of the reputation it has gained over the decades. The situation of other universities in the State is worse. It has become impossible to run the universities,” he lamented. He also added that majority of the universities are functioning with only 30% of staff and cannot afford to pay their salaries. It is impossible to collect more fees from the students also, as it will result in social injustice. Hence, everyone should join hands, he observed.Vivi-bites-all-over-country-VV-government- political-figures-No-Respect-Prof.K.S.Rangappa-regrets
