New Delhi, February 11, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The Supreme Court of India has refused to consider the appeal submitted questioning the Karnataka High Court’s oral orders over the Hijab row as an emergency trial.
An appeal was submitted in the Hon’ble Supreme Court questioning the Karnataka High Court’s orders restricting the wearing of religious clothing till further orders. The HC had stated that the students should not wear Hijab or Saffron stoles.
Advocate Kamat representing the applicant requested to start the trial from Monday. However, the Supreme Court CJI refused, and mentioned that it will be considered as an emergency, and trial will be conducted immediately in case if it is troubling to conduct the exams. “Don’t make it a national-level controversy. We will arrive at a proper decision in case anything is troubling to conduct the exams. We want to protect the rights of everyone. We will intervene at the right time,” he said.
