Haveri, December 10, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The elections for the legislative council from the local bodies for 25 seats are being held today. The voting, which commenced at 8.00 am today, will continue till 4.00 pm.
The Chief Minister Basvaraj Bommai exercised his franchise at the Taluk Panchayat voting booth, Shiggaon, in Haveri District. Voting is going at Bengaluru, Mysuru-Chamarajanagara, Shivamogga, Chikkamgaluru, Haveri, and other constituencies. Police security has been provided for the smooth conduct of the voting process.
The results of this election will be announced on December 14. A total number of 90 candidates are in the fray. While the BJP and Congress have fielded 20 candidates, the JDS has fielded its candidates in six places.
A total number of 6072 voting booths have been established, with a total number of 23,065 staff. The members of the local bodies are the voters in this election. Out of the total 90 candidates, there is only one woman candidate in Chikkamagaluru.
