Mysuru, Dec. 23, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): “Mahatma Gandhiji’s is a person who inspired the entire world, a world legend he is. He is the only person who made a strong influence on several sectors like social, political, economic, spiritual, he was a visionary,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in a webinar on the topic “Gandhi and his contemporaries in India,” organised by the Gandhi Research Center, UoM, at Manasa Gantori Vignan Bhavan in Mysuru. “Influence of Gandhiji on the world is immense. He had very rare insights and a vision. He is the person who got us independence in the 20th Century through non-violence and satyagraha. He was the person who attracted the attention of the entire world through his non-violence concept and was a reason for world peace,” he said.
The Gandhi Research Center has organised a two-day webinar that focuses on the vision and inspirations of Mahatma Gandhiji and his contemporaries including Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Dr. Ram Manhoar Lohia, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Ravindranath Tagore, Narayanaguru, C. Rajagopalachari, Hardekar Manjapp among others.
Renowned speakers from Delhi, Gujarath, Andhra Pradesh, Bengaluru are participating in the webinar. About 17 papers will be presented by scholars.
K.T. Veerappa, Senior Gandhian was the chief guest. Prof. Kalachannegowda, Devanuru Basavaraju, M.S. Shekar, Director, Gandhi Research Center, and others participated.
