New Delhi, November 23, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The Govt. of India has conferred Mahavir Chakra award on Col. Bikkamalla Santhosh Babu, who laid down his life for the cause of the country during the India-China border Galwan Valley conflict.
Hon’ble President Ram Nath Kovind gave the award to Santhosh Babu’s wife and mother at a program held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Mahavir Chakra is given to the soldiers considering their bravery and sacrifice. It is the second-highest gallantry award.
Col. Santhosh Babu laid down his life during the conflict that took place between the Indian and China soldiers at the Eastern Galwan Valley, in Ladakh, in June last year. He was serving in the Bihar 16th Regiment.
