Mysuru, August 28, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “The new National Education Policy is capable of identifying the challenges in the society and provide required knowledge and skills to the students. The first phase of curriculum is ready,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in the two-day workshop on the ‘Preparation of Sociology curriculum,’ organized by the Department of Social Sciences, held at the Manasagangotri campus today.
In his address, he said, “the NEP has been approved in the cabinet. The people of the country are getting a new education policy after 35 years. It is not just a change of curriculum. It has been developed and is relevant in bringing overall change among the children. It will enhance the creativity, and innovation among the students, besides providing an opportunity to inculcate required skills and expertise in multidiscipline. Mother tongue cannot be neglected in this new NEP. Students have to learn Kannada compulsorily,” he explained.
Prof. Y.S. Siddegowda, Vice-Chancellor, Tumakuru University, Prof. R. Shivappa, Chairman, Curriculum Development Committee and Registrar, University of Mysore, Dr. Chandramouli, Assistant Professor, Department of Research in Social works, Dr. Jyothi, Coordinator of the workshop, and others were present.
