Mysuru, September 18, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): KPCC Working President R. Dhruvanarayana has strongly opposed implementation of the new National Education Policy of the Government of India.
Addressing a press meet held in Mysuru today he expressed his view that the NEP would be a disaster to the country if implemented. “It is a policy which takes us backward. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had implemented the National Education Policy in the years 1968 and 1986 respectively, when it was discussed widely. It was framed and implemented after conducting lot of discussions and collecting information and opinions of all. But the new NEP has been framed without consulting anyone and without discussing with anybody. It will be a great setback for us,” he said.
He alleged that the Government of India is implementing the new NEP based on religion and is about to implement education based on assumptions. “The Kasturirangan Committee consists of many RSS people. There are no members in the committee who have a proper view about the diversity of the country. There is no plurality in the new NEP. Moreover SSLC exams has been left out and the public exams will be conducted only for 12th standard students. It will in fact provoke the students to become labourers. The new NEP lays more stress on teaching of ancient culture and sanskrit language,” he alleged.
