Bengaluru, August 18, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The Wakf Board has demanded the government provide permission to celebrate Muslim festivals and offer Namaz inside the schools following a demand made by several Hindu outfits seeking permission to celebrate the Gowri-Ganesha festival inside the schools. Primary and Secondary Education Minister B.C. Nagesh has however clarified that no opportunity would be given to celebrate any religious functions in schools.
“The demands of the Wakf Board will not be met. We won’t give a chance to celebrate any religious functions in schools. The government didn’t bring the practice of celebrating the Ganesha festival in schools. Keeping Ganesha idol in schools is a practice that has been followed before independence days. Hence, the demands of the Wakf Board cannot be fulfilled.”
