Mysuru, July 13, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): Due to the delay in conducting Ph.D. coursework classes for the year 2020-21 due to COVID-19 Pandemic, students had requested to conduct the class online. In a meeting, the University of Mysore Education Committee has given its consent to conduct the classes online only this time.
The first general body meeting of the committee was conducted on Tuesday at the Vignana Bhavana in Manasagangotri campus, under the chairmanship of Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, the University of Mysore, where this decision was taken. “As the foreign students also cannot attend offline classes, the Ph.D. coursework classes will be held online only this year. Those who are willing to attend offline classes can do so,” Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar informed in the meeting.
Responding to the question on establishing the ‘Buddha Research Centre,’ MLC and Mysore University syndicate member R. Dharmasena urged to open the center and undertake research on Hinduism. Conceding to this, syndicate member Prof. Ramesh said, “research on Buddhism is an independent course in several Universities. We have to name it ‘Buddha Dhamma’ here, he suggested.
Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa, Prof. Muzaffar Asadi, and others attended the first Educational Committee general body meeting.
