Mysuru, Jan. 26, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Political democracy should become social democracy. We all should know that politics is running on the foundation of social democracy,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
He participated in the special lecture program organised by the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, University of Mysore, on the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day today.
In his address, he said, “political democracy won’t exist without social democracy. The meaning of social democracy is the method of life. It recognizes freedom, equality, and brotherhood as the tenets of life.”
Prof. R. Shivappa, Registrar, University of Mysore expressed his view that India had torn into pieces before independence. The landlord, kings, and powerful people were living the life of dictators by building their forts. They were all brought under the law from the constitution built by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he added.
“To unite our diversified culture Dr. B.R. Ambedkar studied about 22 different constitutions and formed our constitution, with a message of unity in diversity. Indian constitution possesses magnetic characteristics,” he said.
