Mysuru, Jan. 09, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “We have decided to celebrate Republic day as ‘Raita Rajyotsava Day,” said Kuruburu Shantakumar, President, Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association.
He said that a Sugarcane Growers’ meeting was held at the Kuvmepu Park, near the Gun House in Mysuru, where this decision was taken. The association also has threatened the Govt. of India to withdraw the New Agriculture Policy.
Speaking to the media men after the meeting he said, “The Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association has extended its support to the tractor jatha that will be held on Jan. 26 at New Delhi. “The Govt. of India is coming up with anti-farmer policies. Many farmers have already laid down their lives protesting against the Govt. of India. But they are not understanding. Experts have already explained the disadvantages of the new agri policy. Despite this the govt. of India is adamant. Hence, we have decided to celebrate ‘Raita Rajyotsava’ parallelly on Republic Day, on Jan. 26,” he explained.
