Mysuru, March 7, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The 7th Additional District and Sessions Court of Mysuru has sentenced a person who was convicted of raping and threatening a woman with ten years jail term and Rs. 10,000 fine.
Ravikumar (3), a resident of Saatigrama, in K.R. Nagar Taluk, of Mysuru District, is the convict. He had raped a woman in K.R. Nagar Taluk limits in July 2018 and had threatened to kill her. He had developed intimacy with her and raped her on the pretext of loving and marrying her. Later he refused to marry her and threatened to kill her.
The victim had registered a case against him at the K.R. Nagara police station. After investigation, Police Inspector Raghu had submitted a charge sheet in the court against the criminal.
The 7th additional District and Sessions Court Judge Yashwanth Kumar, today gave the judgment, sentencing the convict after the crime was proved. The sentence includes ten years of rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs. 10,000, and one-year additional imprisonment for threatening to kill the victim along with Rs.5,000. The judgment also read that a sum of Rs. 1 lakh should be paid to the victim as compensation. K. Nagaraj argued on behalf of the government
