Mysuru, February 7, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): MLC H. Vishwanath has alleged that an Rs.250 crore scam has taken place in the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), and has demanded the State Government recommend a CBI probe.
Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra and MLC Puttanna have expressed their support for the allegation. “We have also contributed to the formation of KSOU. I was a member of the sub-committee when M. Veerappa Moily was the Chief Minister and S.M. Yahya was the Higher Education Minister. The distance education was not reaching the rural people then,” he explained.
“The KSOU was established to help students to get a degree and PG degrees by studying at home. The curriculum and teaching methods of KSOU were formed after a thorough examination of other systems followed at the Shantiniketan, Kolkatta, IGNOU, Delhi, etc. KSOU should have grown into a reputed institution. But, unfortunately, it has reached a stage of closure because of the fault of some people. Instructions have been given to write a letter to the government through the KSOU. I will personally speak to the Chief Minister. I will also bring this to the notice of the Governor. A CBI inquiry is needed,” he added.
