ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು,ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ,13,2025 (www.justkannada.in): ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾವಿನ ನಂತರವೂ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರಬಹುದು. ಅಂತಹ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಎಐ ಹೊತ್ತು ತರಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಗೂಗಲ್ ಎಕ್ಸ್ (Google X) ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಸೆಬಾಸ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಥ್ರನ್ ಗುರುವಾರ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ನುಡಿದರು.
‘ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಬಂಡವಾಳ ಹೂಡಿಕೆದಾರರ ಸಮಾವೇಶ’ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ‘ಪ್ರವರ್ತಕ ಎಐ: ಅಮೋಘ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಿಂದ ನೈಜ ಪ್ರಭಾವದವರೆಗೆ’ ಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
“ಎಐ ಪ್ರಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸಲೂ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಮೊದಲು ಚಾಟ್‌ಜಿಪಿಟಿಯನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮುಂದಿನ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಹೇಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಸ್ವಯಂಚಾಲಿತ ಕಾರುಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಸ್ಯಾನ್ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸಿಸ್ಕೊದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸ್ವಯಂಚಾಲಿತ ‘ವೇಮೋ’ ಕಾರು ಯಾರ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಜನರನ್ನು ಓಡಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಇದು ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೂ ಬರಲಿದೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
ಅನೂಹ್ಯ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ
ಎ.ಐ.ನ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ, “ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಕುರಿತು ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಭಯವಿತ್ತು. ಈ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಇಡೀ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕುಲವನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿಯೇ ಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಈಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತಂಕ ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಎಐ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಜನರು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯ ಮುಂದಿನ ಪದ ಅಥವಾ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸಲು ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅದೀಗ ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿಚಾರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪುಟಗಟ್ಟಲೇ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯಬಲ್ಲದಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಷ್ಟು ಅಗಾಧ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಊಹಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಎಐ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಅನೂಹ್ಯವಾದುದು” ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಕಂಪನಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಇಬ್ಬರೇ ಸಾಕು
‘ಗೂಗಲ್ ನ ಅತಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಗಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದೀರಿ; ಗೂಗಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ವೈಪಲ್ಯ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲವೇ?’- ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಸೆಬಾಸ್ಟಿಯನ್ ಥ್ರನ್, “ವೈಫಲ್ಯ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳ ಮೂಲ. ವಿಫಲವಾಗದ ಹೊರತು ಸಫಲತೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಗೂಗಲ್ ನಂತಹ ದೈತ್ಯ ಕಂಪನಿಯೂ ಹಲವು ವೈಫಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದೆ. ಗೂಗಲ್ ಗ್ಲ್ಯಾಸ್‌ ಎಂಬ ಆಗ್‌ ಮೆಂಟೆಡ್‌ ರಿಯಾಲಿಟಿ ಸಾಧನ ಮೊಬೈಲ್‌ ಗಳನ್ನೇ ಮರೆಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಗೂಗಲ್ ಭಾವಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಶೋಚನೀಯವಾಗಿ ವಿಫಲವಾಯಿತು. ಉದ್ಯಮಿಗಳು ರಿಸ್ಕ್‌ ಗಳಿಗೆ, ವೈಫಲ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಬಾರದು. ಅವುಗಳೇ ಮುಂದಿನ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ’ ಎಂದು ನವೋದ್ಯಮಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸಿದರು.
“ಮಹತ್ತರ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳು ದೊಡ್ಡ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಹುತೇಕ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಕಾರಿ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳು ಆವಿಷ್ಕಾರಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಸಣ್ಣ ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ. ತಂಡ ಸಣ್ಣದು, ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಹಣವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಅಂಜಿಕೆ ತೊರೆದು ಮುನ್ನುಗ್ಗಿದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಇಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರೇ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಸಾಕು ಕಂಪನಿಯನ್ನು ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆಸಬಹುದು. ಎಐ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ನೆರವಿನಿಂದ ಇದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಗ್ಗನ್ನು ಚಿವುಟಬಾರದು
ಕಾನೂನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಎಐ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ಅನಾನುಕೂಲವೇ ಎಂದು ನಿರೂಪಕರು ಕೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಾ, “ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯ ಕತ್ತು ಹಿಸುಕುವಂತಿರಬಾರದು. ಅರಳುವ ಮುಂಚೆಯೇ ಚಿವುಟುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತವಲ್ಲ. ದುರ್ಬಳಕೆಯಾದಾಗ ಸೂಕ್ತ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಹೇರುವುದು ಸೂಕ್ತ. ಚೀನ ಮತ್ತು ಯೂರೊಪಿಯನ್‌ ಯೂನಿಯನ್‌ ಗಳು ಎಐ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಂಥದೇ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಹೇರುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಭಾರತ ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ. ದುರ್ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಭಾರತದ ಸಿಇಒಗಳು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಪ್ರೇಮಿಗಳು, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಸತ್ಯ ನಾದೆಲ್ಲ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೂಗಲ್ ನಂತಹ ದೈತ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಮುನ್ನಡೆಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶಂಸಿದರು.
‘ಹೊಸ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾಗಿ’
ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಕುರಿತು ಒಂದು ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆತಂಕ ಇದೆಯಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗೆ, “ಅದು ಸಹಜವೇ. ಆದರೆ ವಾಸ್ತವದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳ ಜೊತೆಯೇ ಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗೆಂದು ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ನಷ್ಟವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದಲ್ಲ. ಈಗಿರುವ ಸುಮಾರು 60% ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳು ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದೇ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಅದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಹೊಸ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯುವ ಜನತೆ ಸಜ್ಜಾಗಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

“ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಐ ಭಾರಿ ಪಲ್ಲಟ ತರುವುದು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ. ಸಾರಿಗೆ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈಯಕ್ತೀಕರಿಸಿದ ಸೇವೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದರ ಬಳಕೆ ಜಾಸ್ತಿಯಾಗಲಿದೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಸಾವಿನ ನಂತರವೂ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ಮೊಮ್ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಜೊತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿರಬಹುದು. ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್‌ ಟ್ವಿನ್ ಮೂಲಕ ನಾವು ಬೇರೆ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೂ ಮೀಟಿಂಗ್‌ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನಂತ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಎಐ ತೆರೆಯಲಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ನುಡಿದರು.

Bengaluru: Sebastian Thrun, founder of Google X on Thursday discussed the evolving role of AI and its impact on regulation and job markets in a thought-provoking session at the Global Investors’ Meet here.
He emphasised the need for responsible regulation of AI while assuring that the technology will complement human workers, not replace them.
Thrun addressed the issue of AI regulation, acknowledging its importance but cautioning against overregulation that could stifle innovation. “Regulation is necessary, but it must not hinder research,” he stated. “It’s not right to control a technology before it has even had the chance to develop. Proper regulation should only step in when there’s misuse.”
He highlighted that countries like China and the European Union are already regulating AI, while India has yet to establish formal measures. “Indian CEOs are incredibly tech-savvy and visionary, which is why they have been able to lead global companies like Google,” he said, praising India’s dynamic tech ecosystem.
AI and Jobs: Preparing for the Future
Thrun also addressed growing concerns about AI’s impact on the job market. While some fear job losses, he reassured the audience that AI will work alongside human workers, creating new opportunities rather than eliminating them. “Approximately 60% of current jobs may disappear, but far more new jobs will emerge as a result of AI and other technologies. Young people must prepare themselves for these new roles,” he advised.
Thrun emphasised that AI’s rise will lead to a shift in job types, but those who adapt will find new career prospects in fields that are currently emerging. He encouraged the younger generation to embrace the opportunities AI will bring in fields like coding, data science, cybersecurity, and digital marketing.
Digital Twins and Immortal Conversations
In a glimpse of the future, Thrun predicted that AI would revolutionise industries like transportation, healthcare, and personalised services. He even suggested that AI could one day allow people to continue conversations with their loved ones after death. “In the future, thanks to AI, we might even talk to our children and grandchildren after we’ve passed away. Through digital twins, we’ll be able to attend meetings and work from remote locations,” he shared.
Thrun’s remarks underscored the vast potential of AI, which, according to him, will continue to transform daily life and open up new possibilities. The session, titled “Pioneering AI: From Imagination to Real-World Impact,” was moderated by Michelle Hennessy, Editor of The Economist’s Graphic Detail section.
