ಮೈಸೂರು, ಆ.28, 2019 : (www.justkannada.in news ) ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ಅಣುಜೀವ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಾಯಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ಮೋಹನ್ ಸಿ. ಡಿ. ಅವರು ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಆಫ್ ಸೈನ್ಸಸ್, ಇಂಡಿಯಾ (NASI)- ಯoಗ್ ಸೈಂಟಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪ್ಲ್ಯಾಟಿನಮ್ ಜುಬಿಲಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ (2019) ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿವಿ ವಿಶ್ರಾ೦ತ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಪ್ರೊ. ಕೆ. ಎಸ್. ರಂಗಪ್ಪ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಾ. ಮೋಹನ್ ಅವರು ಔಷಧೀಯ ಗುಣಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ರಾಸಾಯನಿಕಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ನಡೆಸುತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪ್ರೊ ರಂಗಪ್ಪ ಮತ್ತು ತಂಡ ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಸಂಶೋಧನ ಲೇಖನಗಳನ್ನು ಖ್ಯಾತ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿತ್ತು. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವ 35 ವರ್ಷದೊಳಗಿನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ಈ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು. ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ದಿನಾಂಕದಿಂದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಇದೆ ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯು ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾಗಿರುವುದು ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ವಿಷಯವೆಂದು ರಂಗಪ್ಪ ಅವರು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
NASIಯು 1930 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಮೊದಲ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯು ರಾಷ್ತ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು ಚರ್ಚಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ದೇಶದ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಏರಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯು ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಕೈಗಾರಿಕಾ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಇಲಾಖೆ, ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬೆಂಬಲದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.

The University of Mysore has set a milestone as its faculty member, Dr. Mohan C. D., is chosen for the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI)-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Awards-2019. Dr. Mohan C. D. works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Studies in Molecular Biology, University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Mysore. He works under the supervision of Prof. K. S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore on the discovery of small molecule modulators of cancer cell death. It may be recalled that, Prof. Rangappa and his team recently published their research findings in internationally reputed journals such as Proceedings of the Academy of Sciences, USA, and iScience. The National award is given by the NASI to recognize promise, creativity and excellence in young scientists under the age of 35 years. “For the First time, this award is given to faculty from the State Universities of Karnataka and it is a honour to the University of Mysore to have NASI-Young Scientist Awardee which may motivate many youngsters” Prof. Rangappa says in the press release.
NASI was established as a first Science academy of the country in 1930 with an objective to provide a national forum for the publication of research work carried out by Indian scientists and to provide opportunities for exchange of views among them. NASI is financially supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and also recognised as scientific and industrial research organization by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
