Mysuru, Feb. 9, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Training in silkworm farming will help the students in building determination, and provide proper guidance to the farmers,” opined Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore.
Skill development subject has been included for the first time in the PG curriculum, at the Sericulture Science Research Department, at the University of Mysore. A 25-day duration training program in silk worm farming was organized as part of this.
To provide training to the students who are pursuing post-graduation, under the subject Skill Development entire process of sericulture and silkworm farming is being provided, starting from laying eggs to growing cocoons.
On the occasion, he also informed that the cocoons grown by the students had fetched a sum of Rs. 800/- per kg and appreciated their efforts. He assured to provide all required facilities in the future for such programs.
