Mysuru, Feb. 06, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): “Tuber and root vegetables are our natural assets. Rice is an ambassador of our culture. There will be no future without protecting and conserving it,” opined Scion of the Mysuru Royal family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar.
He inaugurated the three-day long ‘Tuber and Root Vegetables Mela,’ held at the iconic Nanjaraja Bahaddur Choultry in Mysuru, organised by the Sahaja Samruddha, in association with the Rotary Club Mysuru-West.
In his address, he said, “COVID-19 pandemic has created panic among the people. The food we consume has a direct connection with diseases. Consuming tuber and root based vegetables will help improve our health and build our immunity,” he opined.
Dr. Lakshmi Unnitan, Editor, Agriculture World, New Delhi, released the ‘Forgotten Food Calendar’ on the occasion. In her address, she said indefinite and unpredicted rainfall has weakened the farmers in our country and tuber and root based vegetables are a perfect solution to our food problems.”
