In 2019, Satyaranarayana purchased 3 saree falls at the Maruti Matching Center, owned by Hanumantharaju. The owner of the shop had demanded Rs. 110 from the purchaser, whereas the actual price was Rs. 30 for each saree fall, amounting to Rs. 90. Hanumantharaju had issued a receipt to Satyaranarayana for the purchase. When the purchaser questioned the shop owner, he replied arrogantly. The consumer Satyaranarayana who was irked with the shopkeeper’s behavior, appeared before the Consumer Court in 2020, demanding a sum of Rs. 61,000 compensation from the shop owner.
