New Delhi, May 14, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The Government of India has issued orders prohibiting export of wheat.
The wheat produced in India has great demand in many other countries. However, the Government of India has issued orders prohibiting wheat exports in order to prevent internal scarcity. The orders have been issued following increase in prices of wheat at the global level.
Accordingly, export of all varieties of wheat, including the Durram that contains higher protein content and wheat variety that is used to prepare bread has been prohibited.
The Govt. of India has included wheat under the ‘Prohibited’ category as a measure of controlling inflation.
The Office of the Directorate General of Foreign trade (DGFT) has issued the orders on Friday evening. Wheat export will be allowed only if an agreement is made before May or an ILOC agreement is made before May.
