Mysuru, March 13, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The University of Mysore has conferred an Honorary doctorate on Sandalwood Powerstar Late Puneeth Rajkumar and two others.
Addressing a press meet held at the Crawford Hall in Mysuru today, Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, informed that the Late Puneeth Rajkumar is one among the three to whom the University is conferring Honorary doctorate.
The others to whom the Honorary Doctorates are being conferred include folk singer Malavalli Mahadevaswamy and Senior Scientist and DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) former Director-General Dr. Vasudev Kalkunte Atre. “The University of Mysore had conferred Honorary Doctorate to Dr. Rajkumar about 46 years ago,” he recalled.
The 102nd Convocation of the University of Mysore will be held on March 22, where the doctorates will be conferred. “We had proposed the names of 12 persons to the Government out of them the high-level committee has recommended the names of the above three persons. Smt. Ashwini, w/o the late actor Puneeth has also given her consent to this,” he informed and said she has also agreed to attend the convocation.
