Mysuru, June 30, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): The general body meeting of the Education Board of the University of Mysore today gave its approval to commence two new courses ‘Clinical Reproduction Genetics,’ and ‘Deans Studies Course,’ from the academic year 2022-23.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore. Approval to start the ‘Clinical Reproduction Genetics course under M.Sc. was granted. It will be commenced in association with the Mediwave IVS and Fertility and Research Hospital and Genetics and Genomics Research Division.
Earlier a course was commenced under the name Military Science. But as it stopped midway, now approval has been granted to start the ‘Deans Studies Course,’ in BA and MA. Approval was also granted to the proposal of providing free education at the University of Mysore to the Kannadigas living in the border areas of the state.
In his address, Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore said, “the students living in the border areas of Chamarajanagara, like those who are in Talawadi in Tamil Nadu, who have studied Kannada, have to bear a higher fee if they come to Karnataka to pursue higher education. They also cannot apply for scholarships. Hence, it is proposed to provide concession in fees or offer free education for such students who come here to pursue BA, B.Ed., MA and M.Ed., Ph.D. In association with the Border Development Authority, scholarships will be provided to the border area Kannadigas who come here to pursue higher education,” he explained.
It was also decided to establish the Latadevi and Prof. B.H. Suresh, Prof. G. Venkatesh Kumar, Padma Satyanarayana, and M.B. Anuradha M. Chowdegowda and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Prof. N. Ningaiah Gold medal Endowment.
Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa, Science and Technology Department Dean Prof. Basavarajappa, Registrar (Exams) Prof. A.P. Jnanaprakash, MLC C. Manjegowda, Govt. nominated member Shashikumar and others attended the meeting.
