Mysuru, Dec. 30, 2020 (www.justkannada.in): The prestigious University of Mysore has proposed to change the decades’ old tradition of wearing gowns during convocations.
A discussion on this matter was held at the syndicate meeting held under the leadership of Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore. A decision to form a syndicate sub-committee under the leadership of the Registrar of Examinations was taken in the meeting. This sub-committee will submit a report on making statute changes concerning the gown.
It is proposed to introduce a swadeshi attire that is suitable to the local weather, and also signifies Mysore, Karnataka, and Indian tradition.
