Mysuru, February 12, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, today inaugurated the two-day ‘Tuber Mela’ organized by the Rotary Club of Mysore West in association with the Sahaja Samruddhi, at the Nanjaraj Bahaddur Choultry.
In his address, he said, “Tubers are one of the valuable assets given to us by nature. It helps in improving our health and enhances immunity. There is a direct link between the food we consume and our health. Tubers were the only food of human beings before he started doing agriculture. Hence, it should become a part of cultivation.”
Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Dean, Horticultural University, Mysuru, released a calendar on various tubers. In his address, he said, “we need to welcome tubers once again in our daily diet as it was one of the important food of our ancestors, full of nutrition. We should improve our health by consuming more and more tubers.”
