Vaccines protects from Delta Plus virus – Researcher Dr. Belluru S. Prabhakar

Mangaluru, July 13, 2021 (ww.justkannada.in): The COVID vaccines that are available now are capable of protecting us from even the Delta Plus virus according to Dr. Belluru S. Prabhakar, Senior Co-Dean, Technical Innovation and Training Division, Illinois University, USA.
He participated in a lecture program on the topic, “Post COVID-19 Clinical and Research Opportunities,” organized as part of the lecture series, by the Institutional Innovation Committee, Nitte University.
In his lecture, he opined, “the vaccines that are given presently have been proven effective. Even though people who have taken the vaccine get infected with the Coronavirus chances of developing a serious illness are very less. Hence, everyone needs to take the vaccination. Variants of coronavirus creating panic among the people is quite natural. But, there is no need to worry for those who have already taken the vaccination. It will give protection.”
Further, he said giving Invermetcin, Remdesivir, 2 DG medicines to COVID-19 patients won’t help as there is no scientific evidence to prove that these medicines will cure the infection. Instead of misleading the people about COVID-19 and vaccination, the politicians should cooperate with the research against COVID-19, he added.
On the occasion, he also informed that post COVID care is essential and suggested the government take measures to open more post COVID care centers. “It is very good to know that the K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital of Nitte University has opened a post COVID care center and assured of providing all kinds of medical advice and required support.
Earlier the program commenced with a welcome address by Prof. G. Sriniketan, Director, Institutional Innovation Committee, and Dr. M. Vijaykumar, Lecture Series program coordinator anchored the program.
