Mysuru, September 20, 2021 (www.justkannada.in): The Karnataka State Former Vice-Chancellors’ Forum Chairman Prof. K.S. Rangappa has opposed appointing Prof. S. Vidyashankar as a member of the Search Committee of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Addressing a press meet held in Mysuru today, he informed that the KSOU Vice-Chancellor is from an engineering background and questioned in what way he is concerned with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences? “Before selecting a person for any University Search Committee, experts from the relevant sector should be consulted,” he said and informed that he has written a letter to the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka and the Chief Minister demanding to withdraw the orders.
He also informed, “the trend of appointing the present vice-chancellors to the search committee should be stopped. as they can’t take unbiased decisions, and will always be under government pressure. Hence, the government should come up with a policy on appointing former VCs to the search committee,” he opined.
“I am collecting all the relevant documents about the corruption that is taking place in KSOU. I will come before the media in the next week along with the documents. I had accumulated a sum of Rs. 650 crore funds when I was the Vice-Chancellor. But they made me the villain. I won’t speak much about it now,” he added.
