Bengaluru, August 24, 2022 (www.justkannada.in): After a complaint from the Karnataka State Contractors’ Association, another Contractors’ Association has written a letter to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai appealing him to clear the pending bills immediately.
In the letter written by the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Association Contractors’ Association addressing the Chief Minister Bommai, it has appealed to immediately clear the pending bills, or else the contractors’ will have to commit suicide inevitably.
“Each and every contractor is facing severe difficulty. None of them are in a condition to go to the work place due to deep financial trouble. They are facing lot of pressure from the material suppliers and financial institutions that have provided loans. Many of them have reached a stage where they have to commit suicide without any other way out. We have made efforts to pacify them by holding a meeting. We have pacified them by stating that we will meet the Chief Minister for one last time,” the letter reads.
“These contractors’ have undertaken the SC, ST and Backward Castes Community Residential school building construction works. However, the pending payment is increasing from the last 7-8 months. The pending amount that is pending to be released from the government is estimated at Rs. 1,200 crore. Though we met and appealed to you regarding this no action has been taken. Our efforts in meeting Minister Kota Srinivas Poojari has also not yielded any results. If this continues we will be forced to take out a protest,” the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Contractors’ Association has warned.
